Long ago there was a poor farmer named Raghu. He didn’t own any land and worked as a daily wager in the farms possessed by rich merchants which was the only means to earn a livelihood for himself and his family.
One day due to an unfortunate accident, he lost his hands while working in the farm. He didn’t have the funds to undergo the required treatment; getting the necessary medical aid was next to impossible for him. Soon his life savings were exhausted as a result of which he and his family began to starve. All the people living in the village took pity on them. Raghu wasn’t able to find a way to come out his condition. He was constantly worried about his wife and children who after a while left him alone.
One fine day while he was walking along the community garden, a saint passed across. He saw Raghu sitting and crying at a secluded place. He sat beside him and asked the reason for his sorrow. Poor Raghu somehow gathered the required courage and narrated his misery.
The saint took Raghu along with him to a nearby village where they met an old lady.
‘She is 85 years old and lives a lonely life. Her husband passed away a few years ago and her only son abandoned her. At first she cried day and night but after a few days, she saw a hungry cow standing outside her house. That day she had nothing except a loaf of bread. But something inside her generated sympathy for the poor animal. This is how she found her way to contentment. Now, the only motto of her life is to collect left over food articles from nearby houses and feed the stray dogs and cows. She has found peace and happiness in the worst situation,’ said the saint with a gentle smile across his face.
This enlightened Raghu. He realized that crying is not the solution rather one has to strive hard to attain peace and happiness. The next day, he bought a paintbrush and a bottle of ink and started writing inspirational quotes with his feet. One of his friends recorded his admirable calligraphy and uploaded it on You-tube.
Soon his video received a million hits and people across the world began to pay him a visit. Raghu, who had no source of earning instantly became a hit. People and multi-national companies began to order his portraits of inspirational quotes and within a year he became a millionaire.
