Once upon a time there were two multinational companies, Rodak and Kujifilms that operated in different countries. They sold millions of analog cameras and film rolls and made billions of dollars. Rodak, which was essentially a research and development oriented company built a digital camera that could actually terminate the need to use film rolls. The pictures were brighter, clearer and sharper and were very cheap as compared to those of analog cameras. But something unexpected happened. Kujifilms decided to give a tough fight to Rodak and it started operating by opening a branch in its competitor’s country.
Since Rodak was not very clear about its new technology, it decided to pull back the project and invested heavily on its former analog cameras and film rolls. World renowned scientists, entrepreneurs, investors and domain experts continuously gave signals to the company to divert its attention from the yesteryear technology towards the technology of the future. But Rodak was so busy in beating Kujifilms that it didn’t pay heed to their advice and continued with its lame strategy.
After a few years, small enterprises developed their own digital cameras and began to sell it in the market. On one hand, these small enterprises sold millions of digital cameras to the people and transformed into huge conglomerates whereas on the other hand, Rodak and Kujifilms which were once multi-billion dollar companies went bankrupt.
